Coagulation disorders: trawling for new diagnostics and therapeutics using genome editing in zebrafish
Jordan Shavit is an associate professor of Pediatrics and the Henry and Mala Dorfman Family Professor at the University of Michigan. Dr. Shavit’s research interests are in “clinically directed basic science” through genome editing in zebrafish to produce models of coagulation disorders. Sensitized N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea mutagenesis and small molecule screens are performed on zebrafish mutants with thrombotic and bleeding phenotypes. He is a principal and co-investigator on several NIH R-level grants. He serves on the HTRS board of directors, the NHF Medical and Scientific Advisory Council, and is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and American Pediatric Society.
