Dr. Milka Koupenova is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UMass Medical School and her lab’s research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms that lead to physiological and pathophysiological changes in platelets during viral infections. Dr. Koupenova was born and raised in Bulgaria, completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at UCLA and Boston University School of Medicine, respectively.
Dr. Koupenova believes that the future of scientific discoveries rests in the hands of productive collaborations between scientists from diverse backgrounds and cultures. As such, she truly enjoys the #BloodandBone Seminar Series.
