John W. Semple was at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto for 27 years and in 2016, he moved to Lund University as a Professor of Transfusion Medicine. He currently is the Scientific Secretary of the ISBT and serves on the editorial boards of Blood and Transfusion. His research interests include the pathogenesis of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and pathogenic mechanisms of Transfusion Related Acute Lung Injury (TRALI). His lab was one of the first to describe platelet TLR expression and he studies platelet-immunity interactions. He has authored more than 195 peer-reviewed publications in the area of platelet immunology and TRALI.
